eFLORA is an electronic repository of Floral species meticulously developed under the supervision of visionary Principal and team of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector-26, Chandigarh. The College aspires to compile comprehensive information on the diverse tree species present on campus, storing it in a database structured for seamless and efficient access. This repository will function to catalog, organise, and facilitate the efficient retrieval of information on all plant species within the campus. It will provide extensive data for each species, encompassing the Botanical name, common name, family name, flowering and fruiting periods, distribution, importance and morphological characteristics

Sri Guru Gobind Singh College is NAAC Re-accredited Grade ‘A’ premier institution, affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. The College is committed to empowering the youth and shaping a better tomorrow in line with India's progressive ideologies of G20, Y20, and B20. - R & D Project has been awarded by the Deptt of Environment, Chd on ‘Exploring the Potential of Carbon Neutrality in Chandigarh’, aiming to make Chandigarh Carbon free by 2030 and completed successfully
The College has 10,281 sq ft of green cover with over 1200 varieties of plants, 1600 trees (approximately) including 600 native trees and nearly 1000 other potted plants, which collectively provide numerous environmental benefits. These plants significantly contribute to oxygen production, air quality improvement, climate regulation, water conservation, soil preservation, biodiversity support and various health benefits. Strategically planted fruit trees throughout the campus attract a variety of birds and frugivorous mammals, fostering a thriving ecosystem. These trees help to maintain ecological balance by providing food and habitat, thereby promoting biodiversity. The campus also boasts a collection of medicinal trees that underscores the commitment of College of promoting health and well-being alongside environmental sustainability. The campus features a range of plant types
Native Trees : Around 600 native trees having more than 50 species including Kachnar, Kadamba, Jamun, Arjun and many more are planted in the mini urban forest on the campus are well adapted to the environment, supporting local wildlife.
Deciduous Trees : Trees like Amaltas, Peepal, Gulmohar, Arjun, Bael and various other species planted around the campus, shed their leaves annually, adding to soil fertility and reducing temperature fluctuations.
Evergreen Trees :Trees that retain their leaves throughout the year such as Mango, Ashoka, Jamun and many other evergreen trees are planted across the pedestrian pathway of campus that provide year-around greenery.
Annuals : Annual plant species that complete their life cycle in one year like Marigold, Petunia, Zinnia, Sunflower, Pansy are planted in Barah Maha Garden of Biodiversity providing seasonal color to the garden and attracting birds, butterflies and honey bees, enriching the faunal diversity and making the garden pollinator-friendly.
Perennials : Long lasting plants that live for more than two years like Hibiscus, Lavender, Chrysanthemum, Daylily and many more perennial species offering lasting greenery.
Shrubs : Woody plants- Hibiscus, Jasmine, Rhododendron and many other species add structure and habitat for the biodiversity on the campus.
Climbers : Plants like Money Plant, Bougainvillea and other climber species, that climb structures on other plants, adding vertical beauty and habitat for various faunal species on campus.
Medicinal Plants :Plants with health-promoting properties like Neem, Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Ashwagandha, Brahmi and various other herbal species planted in Balihari Kudrat Healing and Sacred Herbs Garden in mini urban forest contribute in healing various ailments.
Fruit Trees : The College has a wide variety of indigenous and exotic fruit trees such as mango, jackfruit, amla, pear, plum, peach, jamun, lemon, mausami, grapevine, dragon fruit contributing to biodiversity and providing food for faunal species.
Flowering plants :Dahlia, Chrysanthemum, Zinnia, Poppy, Dianthus, Petunia, Phlox, Marigold etc. planted in Bebe Nanaki Garden of Serenity contributes to the environment sustainability and aesthetics of the campus, are among the numerous flowering plants that have fetched many laurels to the College in various flower shows.
Ornamental Plants : Plants grown for decorative purposes like Hibiscus, Rose, Dahlia and many other ornamental species planted in various gardens enhancing the visual appeal of the College.
Hedge Plants : Plants like Boxwood, Indian Hawthorn, Duranta are planted in the gardens to create boundaries and add greenery to the landscape.
Aquatic Plants : Plants like Water Lilies, Lotus, Hornwort, Water Hyacinth in the aquatic pond of Botanical garden create a serene underwater landscape that complements the vibrant tapestry of life.
