Extension Lecture by Ms. Janaki Srinivasan on the topic “Is A Welfare State Democratic?”

The lecture helped the students to relate the theoretical aspects of the syllabus with the current notions of welfare state and ensure conceptual clarity for the same. Her insights on the state of democracy in India were extremely relevant and benefitted the students of Political Science to a great extent.

Expert Lecture by Prof. Bhupinder Brar on the topic “Is Globalization Dead?”

The expert lecture highlighted the tug of war between globalization and nationalism in the contemporary times. With Prof. Brar’s expertise and research experience of 35 years, the lecture turned out to be an eye opener for both the students as well as the faculty, unleashing a new perspective on gloabalization.

Expert Lecture by Prof. Ashutosh Kumar on the topic “Indian Democracy: Institutional and Constitutional Framework.”

The expert lecture provided for a conceptual clarity to students about the notions of procedural and substantive democracy. Along with its theoretical insights, it helped students raise questions on the contemporary challenges being faced by Indian democracy with a discussion on prospective solutions.

Panel Discussion by Prof. Bhupinder Brar, Prof. Mohammed Khalid and Dr. Deepak K. Singh on the topic “Conflict and Peace in South Asia.”

The Panel Discussion brought to the forefront some of the very important themes associated with conflict and peace in South Asia such as the Process of Othering through Boundaries, Strategic instabilities, Inter-state trust deficit caused conflicts and insurgencies. The diverse specialization of the Panelists and an enriching question-answer round provided the students with a thought-provoking insight into the theme.
