Post Graduate Department of Zoology
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The PG Department of Zoology had its humble beginning as a joint Dept’ of Biology in the year 1966, the year of establishment of the College. It was formally seperated as Department of Zoology by bifurcation in 1972-73 to cater to Pre-Medical and B Sc (Medical). Later in 2014-15 it was elevated to Post Graduate Level with initiation of M Sc Zoology. The Department has been contributing good academic results right from inception. Many students have brought laurels to the department by bagging positions in top ten places of Panjab University Examinations. Last five batches of MSc Zoology have produced many top-rank achievers in various competitive examinations viz., UGC-CSIR, GATE and ICMR.

INFRASTRUCTURE
The PG Dept of Zoology has upgraded its Senior Laboratory into a Smart Lab with provision of LCD and Multi-Media facility. The Junior Laboratory has LCD Projector for teaching.
1. Class Rooms: Four on sharing basis: Smart Lab with Dedicated Interactive Board (RUSA) (1), Normal Lab (1), Sharing Labs (2) (Dept of Biotechnology and Botany), Zoology Museum (1), Staff Room (1), HOD Room (1), Issue-cum-Storage Room (1).
2. Equipment: Refrigerator, Deep Freezers, Colorimeter, PCR, Electronic Single Pan Weighing Balance, Student Microscopes, Dissection Simple Microscopes, Dissection Binocular Microscope, Slide Viewers, Slide Microscopes, Binocular, Laminar Flow, Analytical Weighing Scale, pH Meter, Conductivity/TDS Meter, Hot Plate Magnetic Stirrer, Incubator, Microwave oven, Bacteriological Incubator, Egg Incubator/Hatcher, Autoclave Sterilizer, Laminar Air Flow, Student Projection Microscope, Trinocular Microscope, Graph Microscope, Digital Eye piece Camera for Zoom Binocular Microscope, Digital Photographic Camera, Rotary Microtome, Laboratory Centrifuge, Refrigerated Microcentrifuge, UV Transilluminator, UV Visible Spectrophotometer, Horizontal Gel Electrophoresis.
