PG Department of Biotechnology and Microbial Biotechnology
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Welcome to the Department of Biotechnology and Microbial Biotechnology, a pillar of innovation, research, and education since its establishment in 2006. Here, we believe in empowering our students to lead the frontier of biotechnological advancements through a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum, unparalleled research opportunities, and a teaching faculty that is recognized for their ground-breaking contributions in their respective fields.
Our department offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs including Biotechnology Honors, Biotechnology Elective, M. Sc. Biotechnology, and M.Sc. Microbial Biotechnology. These programs are designed to imbue students with the essential knowledge and skills required to navigate the constantly evolving field of Biotechnology. Our state-of-the-art laboratories, equipped with the latest tools like Spectrophotometers, Fermenters, Gel Documentation Systems, Laminar Flow, Imaging system, PCR machines and animal cell culture laboratory which provide a practical hands-on environment for students to gain in-depth understanding and expertise.
Our faculty, a diverse team of highly educated and dedicated individuals, come from a wide range of specializations including Oncogenomics & Pharmacogenomics, Cancer Genetics, Environmental and Medical Biotechnology, Molecular Modelling & Drug Designing, Human Health and Diseases, and Microbial Biotechnology, among others. They are actively involved in ground-breaking research, have been recognized by the likes of DST and UGC, and publish regularly in renowned national and international journals.
As a department, we are deeply invested in fostering a research-oriented culture. Our students are encouraged to engage in projects of their interest, present their findings in various seminars and conferences, and even publish their work in scientific journals. This research- led approach not only enriches our students' learning experience but also prepares them for higher studies and future careers in the field of Biotechnology. A testament to this is the significant number of our students who go on to qualify for UGC(NET)/CSIR entrance tests and are admitted into prestigious PhD programs. In addition, we organize regular workshops, seminars, and conferences to keep our students abreast with the latest developments in Biotechnology. Through these platforms, our students not only get a chance to learn from and interact with leading experts in the field, but also present their own research and receive constructive feedback.
Join us at the Department of Biotechnology and Microbial Biotechnology to open the doors to a world of opportunity, learning, and discovery. Our commitment is to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and experience you need to contribute to the exciting world of Biotechnology, helping improve the quality of life and spearheading progress in our knowledge-based society.
