UGC CELL


 OBJECTIVES

  • UGC Cell facilitates between the College and UGC office, New Delhi.
  •  It generates proposals under various schemes for seeking grants.
  • The Cell help in settlements of records.
  • The Cell helps the faculty members to seek grants for various research schemes of UGC.

Work Accomplished by UGC Cell

All the settlements regarding various Minor and Major research projects of faculty members cleared. By visiting head office of UGC at New Delhi, Cell was successful in settling the accounts of College. The College received NOC for 11th Plan as well as 12thth plan in the year 2020. The Cell made proposals under STRIDE scheme. The Cell made proposals to start skill based courses under NSQF and successfully started Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism.

During Corona period, One Day International Virtual Conference was organized by The UGC cell on June3, 2020 on the theme “Novel Corona and Novel Challenges: Life Ahead with Covid-19”. Educationists and Economist from the various parts of the country as well as from the foreign countries deliberated in the virtual conference.

Prof BS Ghuman, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the chief Guest in the Inaugural session. Prof Dev Chamroo, Senior Consultant CITC, Mauritius Ltd  was invited as Guest of Honour.  Dr Manpreet Singh Manna, Associate Prof, Sant Longowal Institute of Engg &Technology, Punjab delivered Key note address.  Prof V. K Malhotra, Member Secretary, ICSSR and President of Indian Economic Association delivered Presidential address.

  • In the 1st panel discussion, Prof N. Rajalakshmi, Director Hindustan Shipyard ltd, Visakhapatnam ,Prof C Muthuraja, Head Post Graduate and Research Department of Economics, the American College, Madurai, TamilNadu and Prof SS Gill, Research Coordinator and Senior Prof CRRID, Chandigarh participated.
  •  In the 2nd Panel Discussion, Prof Ravindra Rena, Prof of Economics and Internationalization Project Leader, North West University, Republic of South Africa, Mr Harjeet S Gulati, Entrepreneur, user experience specialist, consultant, photographer, traveler, CEO Mohali, Punjab, Prof Vishal Goyal, Department of Computer Science, Punjabi University, Patiala deliberated on the theme.
  • Prof Sushma Yadav, Vice Chancellor BPS Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Haryana was the Chief Guest in the Valedictory Session. Prof GS Batra, Dean, Academics Punjabi University, Patiala was Guest of Honour  and Prof Pritam Singh, Visiting Scholar, Wolfson College, University of Oxford, UK delivered Key note address.
  • The Conference was organized on freeconferencecall platform and  a total of 2858 (Female: 1564, Male: 1294) participants attended the conference.
  • To create awareness and discuss the challenges of New education Policy-2020, National Webinar on “ New Education Policy 2020: Challenges and Opportunities” was organised on September 12, 2020. Prof NK Taneja, VC, CCS University, Meerut, Prof Rohini Prasad, Ex Vice Chancellor, Sarguja University Ambikpur, Prof Samedu Chettri, Rekhi Centre of Excellence for the Science of Happiness, IIT Khragpur, West Bengal, Prof Vinayak Deshpandey, former Pro VC, RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, Prof DK Madaan, Head, School of Social Sciences expressed their views on New Education Policy. Total of 1506 teachers from all over India participated in the webinar.?
  • Webinar on “Basics of Capital Market” was organised on March26, 20220 to educate participants about the basics of Capital Market as this knowledge has become an important part of everybody’s financial investment decisions. As Digitalization of monetary transactions are rising, the webinar turn out to be very fruitful. The knowledge of capital market will help in avoiding financial frauds in the cyber world.  S Inderjit Singh, Regional Headd, CDSL, Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager BSE, Mohita S Dahiya, AGM, SEBI expressed their views on capital market. It was attended by 230 teachers and students.
