BSc Biotechnology I 3 - Year (NEP) 30 A candidate must have passed 10+2 examinations with a minimum of 50% marks (PCM / PCB) in Science group from any board recognised by PU Chandigarh.
BSc Biotechnology II / III 3 - Year (NEP) A student who has passed BSc Biotechnology I / II from PU Chandigarh or from any other University recognised by PU with same subjects / scheme of the prescribed course or shall have to pass the deficient subjects, subject to the availability of seats.
BSc Biotechnology Honours (4 Years) & BSc Biotechnology Honours with Research (4 Years) 4 - Year Note: 4th Year of all Courses — Honours & Honours with Research will be subject to approval by Panjab University.

Programme Overview

From DNA to bioprocess

The curriculum combines rigorous coursework across cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, genetic engineering, immunology, plant tissue culture and bioprocess engineering with extensive laboratory training. From Semester III onwards, students take up to six DSCs covering specialised topics including bioinformatics, biosafety & bioethics, animal cell culture, enzymology, AI in biological and clinical data analysis, and IPR — building a strong foundation for research or industry careers.

In the Lab

Laboratory Experience

The department maintains a well-equipped laboratory with facilities for basic molecular biology, microbial culture, and bioinformatics exercises. Students complete a substantial project or dissertation in their final year.
