What the Programme Delivers

Mentorship that goes beyond the classroom

A faculty mentor is paired with a student group across each programme — meeting regularly to provide academic guidance, personal support and a steady point of contact through the academic year.

Intellectual Growth

Faculty mentors guide students on academic progress, study habits and subject-specific support — helping them stay on track each semester.

Career Guidance

Conversations on career paths, higher studies, internships and professional opportunities — tailored to each student’s programme and aspirations.

Personal Well-being

A safe, confidential space for students to discuss personal challenges — ensuring no one navigates difficult moments alone.

Trust & Open Communication

The Programme actively fosters a culture of trust, two-way feedback and respectful dialogue between faculty and students.

Values & Discipline

Mentorship instils values like responsibility, discipline and ethical conduct — building well-rounded individuals beyond academics.

Feedback Loop

Feedback gathered from students and parents helps refine teaching methodologies and improves the overall learning experience.

Three Guiding Objectives

Why the Programme matters

The Mentor–Mentee Programme works toward three pivotal objectives that together build a student-centric ecosystem.

Bridge Faculty & Students

Builds a holistic, inclusive environment that closes the gap between teachers and learners — fostering open communication and collaborative learning.

Track Progress & Growth

Regular mentoring sessions every semester monitor academic progress, identify challenges early, and ensure timely guidance through both UG and PG programmes.

Enrich the Learning Experience

Feedback from students and parents drives continuous improvement in teaching methodology — making the College a truly responsive learning community.

How It Works

A simple, structured four-step cycle

Each semester runs through the same predictable rhythm — so students always know where to turn, and faculty always have a clear cadence for follow-up.

1

Pairing

At the start of the semester, every student is assigned to a faculty mentor by class group.

2

Sessions

Group meetings on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of every month, 12 noon–1:00 pm.

3

Tracking

Mentors record progress, attendance and concerns — both academic and personal — for each mentee.

4

Feedback

Inputs from students and parents inform continuous refinement of teaching and the Programme itself.

Programme Vision

Mentorship at the heart of a student-centric College

Our vision is simple — every student at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College should feel seen, supported and challenged. The Mentor–Mentee Programme is the spine that holds this vision together, ensuring the relationship between teacher and learner extends well beyond the lecture hall.

By combining structured monthly contact with an open-door culture, the Programme blends academic enrichment with character building — a quiet but defining feature of the SGGS experience.

“A mentor is not someone who walks ahead and tells you which path to take — a mentor is someone who walks alongside you, helping you find your own.”
