Overview

About the Department

An introduction to our history, our teaching philosophy, and the scholarly tradition we work within.

The Department of Music at SGGS College carries forward a long tradition of teaching Indian classical music — both vocal and instrumental. The curriculum is grounded in raag, taal, rasa and the careful guidance of practice (riyaaz), with theory taught alongside performance.

The Department offers Music as an elective in the B.A. programme, and provides students with opportunities to perform at College events, inter-college festivals and cultural programmes across the city.
