About the Council

A College-wide initiative to foster innovation, entrepreneurship and a start-up mindset.

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College was established during the academic session 2020–21 under the guidelines of the Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education. The Council aims to foster a culture of innovation by channelising students’ creative potential into impactful ideas, start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures.

The IIC actively participated in the National Innovation and Startup Policy campaign and formulated the Institutional Policy on Innovation and Startups for the College in alignment with NISP guidelines. Through its initiatives, the Council encourages innovative and out-of-the-box thinking in support of the Make in India initiative. The Council regularly organises a wide range of activities, including workshops, webinars, expert lectures, panel discussions and interactive sessions with entrepreneurs and industry experts.

Vision

"To encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are in formative years; and to cater to the needs of students as well as faculty entrepreneurs with innovative ideas of social relevance — thereby disseminating a culture of entrepreneurship in campus which will further boost our education system and grow national economic and social development."

Mission

"To develop a system with required infrastructure that can enable students to innovate and prototype their ideas with industrial standards and support from Government, industry and reputed academic institutions around the world — helping them realise their potentials."

Our Motto

The IIC strongly believes in promoting creativity and building a culture of Innovation and skill development. "Let Your Ideas Soar with Wings"

Self Help Groups, Start-ups & Entrepreneurial Ventures

Building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that turns student creativity into real ventures.

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of the College is dedicated to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, promoting innovation and providing students with a dynamic platform to nurture and showcase their creativity and business acumen. The IIC plays a significant role in motivating students to explore start-up ideas and supports them in transforming these ideas into viable ventures.

The College has established various Student Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem and bring together students with shared interests and aspirations. These SHGs focus on skill development, ideation and innovation, while also providing practical exposure to entrepreneurial activities. Through Student SHG Sales Counters, organised during major College events, students gain hands-on experience in product development, marketing and customer engagement — thereby developing essential leadership skills. These counters showcase a diverse range of student-made products such as organic compost, eco-friendly stationery, handmade crafts and sustainable lifestyle goods, reflecting the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the students.
